WHAT WE CARE ABOUT

We are challenging a community of car lovers to drive one million miles of conversation. We provide the platform for you to connect, wherever you are, whatever your drive. At the same time, together we can raise funds to support charities leading the fight against the stuff that’s killing us unnecessarily.

Social disconnection is a public health crisis, but connection doesn’t need a campaign. It needs space. And for generations, the car has been that space. You’re not face-to-face. You’re side-by-side. No pressure. Just time, music, motion. That’s where people open up. That’s where wellbeing starts. That’s why Refuel makes room for the drives that bring people back to each other.

Refuel is flipping the script on car culture. We turn every drive into a space where connection happens naturally. No deep chats required, just the conditions for people to feel understood.

Disconnection is one of the most overlooked risk factors in public health. It’s been shown to increase the risk of early death more than obesity or physical inactivity. And yet, we rarely give it the attention it deserves. Refuel exists because we believe the journey matters, not just the one on the road, but the one between people too. Being part of something, belonging, can be the most powerful fuel of all.

The World Health Organization (WHO) backs it: real connection lowers the risk of anxiety, depression, suicide, dementia, cardiovascular disease, and stroke. So, we’re building that connection the way we know best, side-by-side, behind the wheel.

We believe connection isn’t a luxury. It’s survival. Research shows that chronic loneliness can increase the risk of early death by up to 26 percent and is as harmful as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. In a fast-moving world, slowing down to find meaning isn’t weak. It’s wise. That’s why Refuel is about more than driving. It’s about rediscovering what makes us human: belonging, purpose, and the simple joy of being seen.

We’re social engines, built to belong. But with less time, fewer shared spaces, and more digital noise, real connection is harder to find. Studies have shown that social isolation is linked to higher rates of anxiety, depression, heart disease, and even cognitive decline. Refuel is a reminder that what keeps us going isn’t just the machine. It’s the meaning we create when we feel part of something bigger than ourselves.

It’s strange how easily we can talk and how rarely we feel heard. Social connection strengthens our immune systems, lowers stress, reduces inflammation, and significantly increases lifespan. Yet despite being more “connected” than ever, more people report feeling isolated and invisible. Refuel is about changing that—not by forcing interaction, but by creating space for something deeper than small talk or scrolling.

Sometimes, it starts with a drive.
